Potential Off-site Meeting at Center Trenum, Pueblo
A suggestion was made to hold an off-site club meeting at the Center Trenum in Pueblo, which features large pictures and quotes from Medal of Honor recipients — including Jerry Murphy, quoted above. The idea includes organizing a catered meal, possibly with steak and appetizers, for at least 10 attendees.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER: BRYAN ULRICH
Bryan Ulrich is the son of our most senior member, Frank Ulrich. Bryan is an award-winning, board-certified professional civil engineer, internationally recognized as an expert in geotechnical engineering and soil analysis. He has been inducted into the Academy of Geo-Professional as a Diplomat and into the Hall of Fame for Geoengineers.
Bryan attended New Mexico Tech (formerly New Mexico School of Mines, founded 1889). He earned two degrees there, including mining engineering, and later obtained his master's from the University of Alberta. His career began with Knight Peasalt in Johannesburg, where he worked for over 30 years, and he started his own business in 2020.
Engineering and Site Safety
Bryan's expertise in analyzing soils and water was highlighted throughout the presentation, with water described as either a 'best friend or worst enemy.' Geotechnical engineering plays a critical role in mining — large-scale projects require rigorous soil testing before any construction begins. His early career involved verifying soil samples in the field and developing safety protocols for complex terrain.
Artistry and Other Pursuits
Beyond engineering, Bryan is creatively accomplished. He wrote a song titled The Faultful and won a design contest for Sarah's 75th anniversary logo, now displayed on vehicles entering and exiting mines. He also hosts a podcast featuring international guests and was introduced to the club by his son.
